Fifth economic increase plan revealed - 2003-03-11
The plans

There are currently five economic development plans for state legislators to consider. They are:

Iowa Values: A $500 million plan by Gov. Tom Vilsack, who suggested the state increase the money by issuing bonds and repaying the debt with gambling profits.

"Nights-at-the-Races", Are they legal? - 2003-03-11
For years, our region had a popular reputation for gambling. Now, one local Police Department is taking a serious stand against it: many say too tough.

Recently, the police chief of Niles warned charities not to sponsor pseudo- "Nights-at-the-Races". The popular activities allow participants to bet on video horse races, in addition to other games.
