Premier supports tax take - 2003-03-11
The Victorian Government's growing tax revenue was thanks to a buoyant economy provoked by the housing boom, Premier Steve Bracks has stated.

A report released by the Commonwealth Grants Commission today demonstrated Victoria was collecting the country's leading gambling and property taxes and spending more on welfare than any other state.

D.C. hotel is a go for gaming tribes - 2003-03-11
Two southern California Indian bands in partnership with two tribes from Wisconsin broke ground last week on a $43 million hotel in Washington, D.C., the most recent example of tribes reaching outside casino gambling to diversify their business interests.

Tribal members burned tobacco and blessed the location where the 13-story, 233-room Residence Inn by Marriott will introduced in the fall of 2004.
