Bill to Outlaw Online Gambling Accepted - 2003-03-13
A House panel today authorized a bill that would effectively outlaw online gambling by making it a crime for website operators to accept wagers with bank instruments including credit cards, checks or wire transfers.

Nevada lawmakers say they are worried about the adverse effects of online gambling but also want to secure casinos that would like to present web gaming if it were legalized.

I-Gambling Commission Created - 2003-03-13
Congressman John Conyers, Jr., of Michigan, a ranking Democrat of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, has brought in a bill to create a commission to study regulating online gambling in the United States. The bill was also introduced by Representatives Chris Cannon (Republican, Utah), Shelley Berkley (Democrat, Nevada), and Joe Baca (Democrat, California).
