Gambling organizer pleads guilty - 2003-03-13
A figure long involved with gambling in Pennsylvania was back in federal court to plead guilty to operating a gambling scheme that netted him as much as $2.5 million annually, according to prosecutors.

Adolph "Junior" Williams, 69, of Scott Township, on Monday admitted to his role as organizer of an illegal gambling racket and also pleaded guilty to charges of violating federal tax laws.

Japan Seeks Casinos, Gambling Culture - 2003-03-13
Ichiro Tanioka, 46, chairman of Japan’s “first academic society dedicated to the study of gambling and gaming” has agreed to “help establish a gambling culture in Japan.”

'We learn about life through experiencing little wins and losses,” Tanioka stated. “Because there's no gambling culture ingrained in our society, many people went too far during the bubble period and ended up gambling their way to failure..."
