Bill to stop online gambling passes House panel - 2003-03-14
A House panel passed a bill Thursday to stop online gambling, a day after hockey superstar Jaromir Jagr confessed to paying $450,000 in debts he racked up to an online bookmaker.

The House Financial Services Committee passed a bill endorsed by Rep. Jim Leach, R-Iowa, that makes it illegal for Internet gambling businesses to accept credit cards or other wired transactions.

Officers take gambling machines - 2003-03-14
Law enforcement officials warned Jerry Cannon in December to get rid of the five gambling machines from his convenience store on Alabama 101 just south of Elgin.
