The consequences of the integration of slot machines and racetrack gambling were talked about at length in the “Views of Racing 2003” panel discussion on Friday, the final day of the dual meeting of Thoroughbred Racing Associations, Harness Tracks of America, and Racetracks of Canada at the Westin Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Florida.

Trident Group Assists Problem Gamblers - 2003-03-15
Online gambling is not regularly associated with producing problem gamblers. The large majority of problem gamblers gamble in terrestrial casinos, on slot machines, or offline on sports. But simply because online gambling is not the leading contributor to problem gambling, it doesn't mean that problem gambling can be avoided online.
