Tribes want Sebelius to endorse their casino plan - 2003-03-15
Before Gov. Kathleen Sebelius disclosed her proposal to expand gambling, two Indian tribes revealed to a top aide to the governor that their plan to launch a casino near Kansas City would be more realistic and more profitable.

"We are reminding her we are the tribes of Kansas, we are financing this with Kansas money and the money would stay in Kansas," Fredia Perkins, vice chairwoman of the Sac and Fox Nation, stated Friday.

Video poker probably won't make a comeback - 2003-03-15
One of the Senate's leading lawmakers announced Friday that any attempt to bring video poker back to Georgia would probably be dead on arrival in his chamber.

In 2001, the General Assembly, headed by then-Gov. Roy Barnes, outlawed the games, which critics stated were routinely being used for illegal gambling.
