Battle persists over action's legality - 2003-03-18
Bolstered by a circuit court jury's decision, Faulkner County authorities are putting an end to video-slot-machine-style games, while some feel the jury decision is being misinterpreted.

The ruling of a Faulkner County jury last month ended with prosecutors drafting a letter warning local business people they will be arrested for running machines that officials see as gambling devices.

Doyle refuses tribal gaming compact bill - 2003-03-18
For the second time in three weeks, Gov. Jim Doyle vetoed a bill Tuesday that would have given the state Legislature final say over some tribal gaming compacts.

GOP leaders said Doyle gave up too much and negotiated away the state's ability to regulate tribal gambling.
