Governor proposes state lottery to Senate committee - 2003-03-19
Gov. Brad Henry came through on a promise to alter his plan for a state lottery when a new edition of his proposal emerged from a Senate committee on Monday.

"I really feel like government has no business running a gambling operation," Corn insisted. "What kind of message do we relay to our kids in this state when we tell them we're going to fund education from something that, in my mind, is an immoral action?"

Online-gambling ban receives support in Senate - 2003-03-19
Senate lawmakers said on Tuesday they would make another attempt to outlaw Internet gambling, despite the concerns of several experts, who said U.S. states should rather try to regulate the $4 billion industry.

Top legislators on the Senate Banking and Finance Committee stated they supported a bill that would require credit-card companies and payment services such as PayPal to prevent money transfers to Internet gambling sites.
