Bet on hearing plenty about betting this week. Don't stake much, though, on the Legislature supporting more slot machines or blackjack tables this year.

Like leaders in many states, Minnesota legislators hoping to expand legalized gambling think their proposals deserve a closer look as a method to guide much-needed money into depleted state checkbooks.

Federal money-laundering rules will be issued in Nevada - 2003-03-23
Nevada casinos will be expected to meet new federal cash reporting rules, after the U.S. Treasury Department rejected a bid by Nevada gambling regulators to permit the state to continue with its present reporting system.
Officials reported the new regulation will require reports from close to 40 more Nevada gambling businesses that earn between $1 million and $10 million a year.
