Polk County gives go-ahead for grant money - 2003-03-26
Polk County officials authorized nearly $500,000 for community groups Tuesday after rescinding a moratorium on spending earnings from the county-owned Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino.

The supervisors cited the county's budget deficit in January when they issued a moratorium on spending gambling money, most of which is dedicated to building the $217 million Iowa Events Center.

Finzsoft aims to quit NCM, switch to online gambling - 2003-03-26
The largest company on the near-defunct New Capital Market, Finzsoft Solutions, is making a break for it - trying to leave to the main board of the Stock Exchange.

Another NCM company, Feverpitch - soon to be renamed Kidicorp as part its switch in attention from online gambling to childcare - was yesterday cleared by the exchange to make the leap.
