Casino venture provokes outcry - 2004-01-01
Colorado political and Indian leaders Wednesday slammed a private proposal to purchase land east of Denver, call it an Indian reservation and erect a $100 million casino.

"A casino operation and its proceeds is not any means of justice or reparations settlement," stated Steve Brady, president of the Northern Cheyenne Sand Creek Descendants.

Thousands ignore security concerns to celebrate new year in Vegas - 2004-01-01
An estimated 270,000 people left behind empty beer bottles, plastic cups and terrorism worries following the welcoming of 2004 on the Las Vegas Strip under 10 sets of fireworks and a sea of confetti and glitter.
