The past 12 months have been a crucial year for gaming stocks, with the average value of casino shares raised almost 40 percent -- more than double the broader market indices.

Racetracks rallying to get casinos - 2004-01-01
Kentucky racetracks, horse-men and breeders are bringing a proposal to the General Assembly for a constitutional amendment to permit casino gambling at tracks.

The horse groups state their projections indicate gambling at the eight tracks could produce over $500 million a year in taxes beginning in mid-2005, in time for the second half of the approaching budget cycle.
