Thousands reject security concerns for the new year in Vegas - 2004-01-01
It's estimated that 270,000 people left behind empty beer bottles, plastic cups and terrorism woes after bringing in 2004 on the Las Vegas Strip under 10 sets of fireworks and a ton of confetti and glitter.

Following the midnight strike, Jon Walker of Wyattsville, N.C., embraced random strangers in front of The Mirage hotel-casino's Siegfried and Roy statue.

'Coexistence' auctions goodies for 2004 - 2004-01-01
A high-energy auction will change the Robb & Stucky showroom into a "World of Wonders" Jan. 8, complete with razzle-dazzle items, with proceeds going to the upcoming "Coexistence" exhibit of 39 billboard-size art works along Sarasota's bayfront in February.

Her play, "I Long to be a Fallen Woman," will be developed at Harrah's Casino in Las Vegas this month and "The Pushover" will be staged at the Lamia Ink Festival in N.Y.C. for February.
