Casino 'crossfire' angers U.S. Sen. - 2004-01-16
A proposal to construct an Indian casino east of Denver has U.S. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell, the only Indian in the Senate, declaring he's being singled out because of his heritage.

Campbell, chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, stated that news reports on the casino, which he opposes, have directed more attention to him than they would have if the committee leader was "a white guy."

Oklahoma Tribes Fights For Colorado Casino - 2004-01-16
A pair of tribes in Oklahoma showed support Wednesday for a proposal to construct a casino off Interstate 70 east of Denver.

The statement, issued by the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes, was the first official announcement of a proposal that has been debated for weeks, and it resolved concerns about whether any Indians are literally supporting the casino.
