Meskwakis decline fund to battle new casino - 2004-01-21
The Meskwaki tribe wants to play a part in any gambling development in Iowa, but a tribal official Tuesday denied the group would pay millions to stop a casino from entering eastern Iowa.

Voters in Black Hawk County have supported gambling resolutions. A new casino in Waterloo or Cedar Falls, which is within 45 miles of the tribe's casino close to Tama, could cut into Meskwaki profits.

Gaming Panel to Authorize Plans to Purchase Hard Rock Hotel-casino - 2004-01-21
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi struck a chord with investors in a weeklong tour this month. Now developers of the $235 million resort anticipate the Mississippi Gaming Commission has the same reaction at its meeting today.

The Mississippi Gaming Commission is set to endorse plans to pay for the resort at its monthly assembly in Jackson. This would clear the path for the first new casino to launch in South Mississippi since 1999.
