Macao introduces its 12th casino - 2004-01-21
The Macao Gaming Holding Company (SJM) owned by tycoon Stanley Ho will launch its 12th casino Wednesday, on the eve of China's Lunar New Year.

The Macao Jockey Club Casino lodged in the Grandview Hotel on Taipa Island of Macao will open their doors at 23:00, raising the SJM's game tables to above 450.

County executive condemns suggestion for fairgrounds location - 2004-01-21
Proposals for an Asian theme park and, later, a NASCAR track died in front of public protest. Now arrives the latest idea for the same spot on Baltimore County's east side: Move the Maryland State Fairgrounds from Timonium to the site in Middle River - in addition to, maybe, slot machines.

"I didn't go looking for low-paying casino jobs and seasonal work at the track," he shared. "Maryland taxpayers did not support a $68 million road to serve as a driveway for casinos."
