Senators push for agreement on gambling project - 2004-01-21
Sen. Ray Janssen of Nickerson stated that he plans today to prioritize his proposed constitutional amendment (LR11CA) to approve up to eight casinos in the state.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Sen. DiAnna Schimek, who has endorsed a more restricted casino alternative, warned that momentum is building to support an initiative proposal that would take back control from the senators and sharply raise gambling options throughout the state.

Tribe to develop new casino - 2004-01-21
The Peoria Tribe of Oklahoma and the city of Miami are gambling on casino-style betting to pay off in more tourism for the region.

The Peoria Tribe, which owns the land, will develop a small, temporary gambling operation on the property Thursday. The tribe plans a $6 million casino and entertainment facility to be launch on the site sometime in August.
