Jackpot: Could Mississippi finally get one? - 2004-01-24
Tennessee has one, so does Louisiana, could Mississippi be the next state to follow in the lottery footsteps? One state legislator hopes so. But a lottery will face its fair amount of opposition if it goes before the state legislature.

Other lawmakers are concerned about strict opposition from the gaming industry. Casinos have not taken a stand, but they do have questions.

Casino funding examination will be delayed - 2004-01-24
The state Gambling Commission has not yet examined the contract for the Stillaguamish Tribe's new $19 million loan for a casino.

If those questions continue to go on unresolved after planned construction starts in about two months, it could start a regulatory dilemma. The casino could theoretically be constructed based on the tribe's word, but no real proof.
