Governor, Narragansett Chief Disagree Over Casino - 2004-01-25
Following several months of thawed relations and cooperation, the state's governor and the chief of the Narragansett Indian tribe are fighting again regarding the tribe's attempt to construct a casino.

The Narragansetts for years have campaigned to construct their own casino. The recent idea is for one in West Warwick.

Mississippi Gaming Commission Chairman Leonard Blackwell II has sent a long letter to many legislators detailing his top issues regarding regulating the state's $3 billion-a-year gambling business.

For the most part, casino industry and state government leaders seem to agree with Blackwell's assessment, with just a few key exceptions.
