Teeny and others fear that the attraction of spinning roulette wheels and slot machines would steal a heavy amount of business from the cardrooms. In spite of efforts by Washington cardroom owners to alter laws, cardrooms are strongly limited by the state as to what games they can offer compared with tribal casinos.

Six UK greyhound tracks could be turned into gaming emporiums in an agreement featuring one of the world’s biggest casino operators, it emerged today.

Las Vegas-based MGM Mirage stated that attempts to deregulate the UK gaming industry had sweetened its £270 million control of leisure group Wembley.
Card tables, roulette and hundreds of slot machines could be introduced at greyhound tracks, including Wimbledon, Oxford and Portsmouth.
