In the Bizarro world that is the Strip, it requires something ultimately out-of-place to stop gamblers in their tracks. And just such a scene was unveiled Monday at Mandalay Bay.

Not far from a giant castle and its adjacent replica pyramid, some of the over 25,000 winter sports fans in town this week caused a stir by wandering around in clothes more befitting of a Colorado ski resort than a Southern Nevada casino.

Minnesotans support casino to assist state budget - 2004-01-27
Six out of 10 Minnesotans favor launching a casino in the Twin Cities region to help balance the state budget, according to a Star Tribune Minnesota Poll.

About half of those polled strongly defend the idea, the poll published Tuesday showed.
Several casino proposals will be heard next month when the Legislature convenes. Under the various plans, gambling money from a metro-area casino would go toward sports stadiums to scholarships.
