Electors in Iowa region greenlight riverboat casino project - 2004-01-28
Voters in Franklin County on Tuesday supported a proposal to put forward a riverboat casino.

Anette Renaud, executive director of the Franklin County Development Association, insisted that a riverboat casino would produce about $250,000 for the region and $250,000 that would be divided among communities within the northern Iowa district.

Senator expects to forge ahead with Internet gambling bill again - 2004-01-28
Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., said he will make another effort to usher online gambling restrictions through the Senate, even though it is an election year.

That provision is opposed by the American Gaming Association, the casino industry's chief pushing arm in Washington, D.C.

The ban against states was not featured in a bill that cleared the House in June by a vote of 319-104.
