Texas contemplates VLTs - 2004-01-29
Gambling devices at racetracks in Texas could be a big hit on Louisiana casinos, industry watchdogs say.
Under federal law, Indian tribes in Texas could launch slot machine casinos if the devices are authorized in that state.

Texas is currently fighting lawsuits from Indian tribes suing for the right to reopen casinos close to Beaumont and El Paso that the state attorney general's office deemed closed.

County, Salamanca officials talk about sharing slot machine profits - 2004-01-29
Cattaraugus County and Salamanca city officials had an initial meeting this week on dividing the local share of the state’s take of slot machine profits at the Seneca Allegany Casino.

Both the city and the county are seeking the slot machine revenues as a potential replacement for property taxes being lost as members of the Seneca Nation purchase property in Salamanca and in other regions on the Allegany Territory.
