During the last year, Nebraskans visited casinos over 2 million times, reports a study conducted by Harrah's Entertainment, Inc./NFO World Group.

Omahans represented nearly half of those trips.
In addition, Nebraska ranked as a state with casino participation rates superior than the national average, with 26 percent of the states' population making those visits.

Texas may proceed with VLTs - 2004-01-30
Gambling devices at racetracks in Texas could be a huge hit on Louisiana casinos, industry witnesses say.
The San Antonio Express-News reported this week that a top aide to Texas Gov. Rick Perry is floating a proposal to generate $4 billion for education plans and to reduce property taxes through a number of initiatives, featuring video lottery terminals at horse and greyhound racetracks.

Shreveport-Bossier City and Lake Charles, which are two of Louisiana’s casino markets, are severely dependent upon Texas gamblers.
