Massive casino purchases stadium - 2004-01-30
Wimbledon Stadium could be converted into a Las Vegas-style gambling Mecca after its sale to one of America's largest casino kings.

The US gaming corporation now reportedly intends to construct a giant casino, slot machine emporium and hotel development on the 14 acre site in Plough Lane, with weekly greyhound races continuing to operate.

State tribe granted gateway to possible casino - 2004-01-30
The federal Bureau of Indian Affairs reversed itself Thursday and gave long-awaited federal recognition to the Schaghticoke tribal nation of western Connecticut, creating the possibility of an additional Indian casino in the state.

In the past six months of 2003, the tribes each sent about $100 million to the state from their slot machine revenues.
