Rose will probably make confession as book hits stores - 2004-01-04
Let's assume Pete Rose and his book publisher are not hyping up their dog-and-pony show this week merely for the hit king to reiterate, once and for all, that he never bet on baseball.

The big question this week isn't whether Rose will admit to gambling on baseball. The question will be whether his admission will prompt commissioner Bud Selig to reinstate Rose and thereby make him eligible for the Hall of Fame.

Prosecutors may contact USFK in gambling probe - 2004-01-04
South Korean prosecutors could contact U.S. military officials in connection with a growing probe into allegations of illegal gambling at a weekly "Casino Night" at the U.N. Command officers' club, a U.S. military newspaper reported in today's edition.

Prosecutor Kang In-chul of the foreign affairs division at the Busan District Prosecutor's Office said he could not disclose what contact had been made with U.S. officials, the Stars and Stripes said.
