Casino opponents -- worried about traffic and crime -- organize in St. Louis County - 2004-01-04
With public meetings and prayer vigils, some opponents in south St. Louis County are fighting proposals for a new casino.

"None of us are of the mind-set that casinos or gambling are bad," though prospects of a gambling site not far from a south St. Louis County elementary school aren't acceptable, said Debbie Wirtel, a mother organizing parents opposed to the plan.

Rose: 'Yes I Did' - 2004-01-04
Pete Rose has admitted after 14 years that he did bet on baseball while running the Cincinnati Reds.
In an interview about his soon-be-released autobiography, Rose told ABC News that, after 14 years of denial, he did bet on games but never against his team.

"Yes, I did and that was my mistake for not coming clean earlier," Rose answered when asked directly if he bet on baseball.
