As this year's legislative session approaches, lawmakers should know that casino gambling downtown would be good business -- in the strictest sense of the word.

Setting aside for the moment the morality debate, the bottom line is that casino gambling would bring a bona fide boost to downtown, and by extension the state as a whole.

Man robs drinking buddy after fight in motel room - 2004-01-05
A scuffle in a downtown Reno motel room Sunday morning resulted in a guest being robbed by his drinking companion, Reno police said.

Investigators said two men were drinking together in a downtown casino just before 9 a.m. After about 20 minutes in the victim’s motel room at 370 West St., the suspect reportedly broke a beer can in half and demanded the victim’s money. During the fight, the suspect took the victim’s wallet and fled, police said.
