Chief hopeful that Jena Band can hash out casino agreement - 2004-01-06
The chief of the Jena Band of Choctaws says she is hopeful that she and the governor can work out a casino deal that is fair both to her tribe and the state.

Gov. Mike Foster said Monday he's not sure he can get the deal he wants before he leaves office Jan. 12. The Jena Band has not agreed to a deal that would offset the state's loss of revenue from competing casinos, he said.

Marrying Britney Spears was a "cool" idea that rapidly became a nightmare, the singer's ex-husband, Jason Alexander, said in an interview about their 48-hour marriage.

Alexander, a childhood friend of Spears, said the two had gone to the Nevada desert gambling resort on the spur of the moment to celebrate New Year's Eve and had found themselves in a hotel room in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
