Castaways casino to issue stock to the community - 2004-01-09
The Castaways hotel-casino in Las Vegas intends to issue stock to the public as the first approach in a proposed reorganization plan aimed at emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The money-losing casino said it expects to report a profit early this year as a result of measures created to cut operating costs and expenses such as layoffs, Chief Financial Officer Jim VanWoerkom stated.

Tribe To Contemplate Central Louisiana For Casino Site - 2004-01-09
Unless Gov.-elect Kathleen Blanco changes her mind about a reservation casino near Shreveport-Bossier City, the Jena Band of Choctaws will change its efforts at having a gambling hall to its home parishes of Grant and LaSalle, the tribe's chief stated.

Foster had been bargaining with the tribe for a casino in Logansport, which would compete with state-taxed casinos in Shreveport-Bossier City.
