Accused murderer suspected of affair with victim's wife - 2004-02-11
The man accused with murder Tuesday in the death of an Inver Grove Heights man had been engaged in an affair with the victim's wife, who called him shortly before and again shortly following the time her husband was shot in December, authorities reported.

Laura Xiong met Tran around two years ago at the Canterbury Card Club, Backstrom stated. They often gambled together at casinos such as Mystic Lake, Treasure Island and Grand Casino Hinckley, he revealed.

Casino distance legislation altered - 2004-02-11
City council Tuesday changed a video lottery ordinance to exclude businesses that have filed a lottery commission application by Feb. 20 from the stricter regulations.

The unaltered legislation would have banned establishments not in operation when the ordinance goes into effect from within 1,500 feet of schools, churches, residential regions and other casinos regardless of the status of their application with the state.
