Boosted by the Borgata, the casino trade set an additional record for January, generating $366.5 million in the gambling halls, a 9.7 percent rise over the same month a year ago.

The amount eclipsed the previous January high set last year, according to statistics publicized Tuesday by the Casino Control Commission. Win, or casino profits, is the net total of money won by casinos. It is not profit.

Gambling Issue Disputed In Unicameral - 2004-02-11
As another petition drive was filed with the Secretary of State's office on extended gambling, the Legislature disputed a pending constitutional amendment regarding this subject. As amended, LR14 would permit the Legislature to approve up to eight casinos and to supply for the operation, regulation and taxation of casino gaming at such locations.

I think it is crucial that the Legislature have supervision over the regulation and taxation of casinos.
