Student group publicizes resistance to Madison casino - 2004-02-12
Students Against Casino Expansion, a group battling the creation of a Ho-Chunk casino in Southeast Madison, hosted a conference Wednesday to persuade students that a casino would drain money from the downtown region.

The group contends including a casino will end in layoffs and bankruptcies along State Street if it is not voted down in a vote next Tuesday. The question will be on the same ballot as the Democratic presidential candidates.

Ho-Chunk Casino Employees Fired - 2004-02-12
55 Ho–Chunk Nation workers have been laid off, including 35 people who worked at the Baraboo Casino.
George Lewis is the president of the Ho–Chunk Nation. He claims some of the lay–offs were the conclusion seasonal cuts.

The nation is replacing their slot machines with new machines that don't require as many employees to service them. That meant some people had to be laid–off"
