San Ramon authorizes immense ante - 2004-02-12
The San Ramon City Council authorized a new rate for future card room applicants that will take care of costs of voter approval, which is mandatory by law.

The last card room in San Ramon was the Outpost Casino, which had been running in the city since about 1978. The business lost its license in April 2003, when owner Mark Luciano did not pay his license renewal fee.

Finger Lakes prepares casino - 2004-02-12
Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack, a struggling thoroughbred track about 70 miles west of Syracuse, is wagering on its new $10.5 million casino. They insist it will revive the track and boost the local economy and assist in funding the state's education system.

Track officials revealed the sprawling casino and its 1,010 video gaming machines Wednesday to a horde of newspaper and broadcast journalists from Syracuse to Buffalo.
