Eight wins deem Australian tourism on high - 2004-02-13
Wa has won eight coveted Australian Tourism Awards, the State's greatest result in 15 years.

The victory was viewed as a coming-of-age for WA tourism by trade officials who assembled in Perth for a week of conferences before of last night's revelation at the Burswood resort.
Burswood International Resort Casino won the Meetings and Business Tourism award but was defeated in the Luxury Accommodation category by the Radisson Playford in Adelaide.

Adams rallies Brisbane hopeful - 2004-02-13
Pipes, traditional dancing and pots of Guinness welcomed Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams when he informed Brisbane backers yesterday to use their political weight to assist in pushing forward the stalled Good Friday peace process.
Mr Soorley was not at the Irish Club lunch but met Mr Adams at a $500-a-head dinner at the Treasury Casino last night.

"We are trying to build a political party for when the British leave to bring about the type of Ireland people want," he explained.
