Tax panel looks for say on gaming earnings - 2004-02-13
The Mississippi Tax Commission is in conflict with the Mississippi Gaming Commission.
State Tax Commission Chairman Ed Buelow requested that the House Gaming Committee on Thursday for legislation that would give the Tax Commission authority to decide how the definition of gross gaming earnings is applied for tax purposes.
Gregory debates Buelow's assertion that gaming gross revenue would face problems because he feels Free Play lured additional players to the casino.

Senate leader sidelines video slot legislation - 2004-02-13
The leader of the Indiana Senate stated yesterday that he has shelved a bill that would permit thousands of video gambling machines at the state's racing facilities.
Rather, he suggests to raise the subsidy the tracks get from riverboat casino tax revenue.

The state's casino law provides that the tracks get 65 cents for each admission to the boats. But two years ago legislators capped that total at $27 million, which is divided among the tracks, purses and breeding programs.
