New bus path to replace monorail - 2004-02-13
A new bus route will replace the Las Vegas Monorail's downtown link until an extension of the rail line can be constructed, the Regional Transportation Commission determined Thursday.

The buses, which will run as Las Vegas Boulevard North Route 501, will make stops solely at stations along its road: nine northbound and an equivalent number southbound. Another pair of stations at Jerry's Nugget Casino will launch in April, after the casino recently donated land for the stops, officials said.

Carcieri offers legislation - 2004-02-13
Among a wide stack of legislation Gov. Donald L. Carcieri submitted to the General Assembly Thursday are three constitutional amendments created to make it more difficult to increase taxes or state spending, measures to help create employment and bills that would make school committees be more accountable to their city and town governments.

The bills include, for instance, the "Level Playing Field Casino Act." It would make it mandatory for any new casino to supply the state with the same share of its profits that it currently gets from Lincoln Greyhound Park and Newport Grand.
