NFL's letters could spell problems for casino parties - 2004-02-02
Nealry half a dozen hotel-casinos in Las Vegas either stopped or changed their Super Bowl parties after obtaining cease-and-desist letters from the National Football League cautioning that their big-screen broadcasts of the game violate federal copyright laws.

The letters created doubt about the future of admission-only parties that have evolved into a major tourism draw for the city and mean mega bucks for the casinos that host them.

Creditor sole bidder for the Castaways casino - 2004-02-02
Las Vegas mortgage lender Vestin Mortgage abruptly picked up the Castaways hotel-casino for $20.7 million at a foreclosure auction for the property this morning.

Vestin foreclosed on the property around close to two months ago. Castaways management closed down the property Thursday after Vestin took cash collateral from the casino.
