Tribe to urge for casino vote - 2004-02-03
The Narragansett Indian Tribe will revive its attempts to pass a bill through the legislature that would place a referendum for a West Warwick gambling casino on the November ballot.

The bill failed when the Senate took no action on the House bill. On at least two other occasions, casino referendum bills were cancelled in the House Finance Committee.

State should look into ownership of casino with 'safeguards' - 2004-02-03
Gov. Blagojevich on Monday stated that the state should review a proposal that would have Illinois own a casino if it has the appropriate safeguards -- which he did not specify.

A proposal by Penn National Gaming requests for the company to establish a casino in Rosemont and then sell it to the state for $1.
