Castaways like gone for good - 2004-02-03
The Castaways probably will not reopen, Las Vegas casino industry executives predicted on Monday after the 49-year-old hotel-casino was acquired by Vestin Mortgage, the property's biggest creditor.

The Castaways shut down Thursday afternoon after Vestin executed its right to foreclose on the property and gather its cash as collateral for its $22 million-plus mortgage note.

Hollywood promoter gives Hard Rock helping hand - 2004-02-03
The Hard Rock Hotel reported Monday it will join forces with noted Hollywood nightlife promoter Brent Bolthouse to develop its latest Las Vegas nightclub.

The 647-room hotel-casino, which over the weekend shut down its 5-year-old Baby's nightclub, will this month start renovating the former Baby's site in preparation for the new, as-yet unnamed club. General manager Michael Greco revealed Monday that the new club is expected to launch on or around Memorial Day weekend.
