Counties subject to great benefits from DeJope casino - 2004-02-03
Recently, I volunteered to be in a television ad in defense of a "yes" vote on the DeJope casino election. I chose to get involved in this issue as both a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation who sees the benefits of Indian gaming and as a lifelong Dane County resident worried about the funding issues facing local governments.

Let us affirm that we want these deals to go forward, so they can be to the advantage of the people of Madison, Dane County and the Ho-Chunk Nation - by voting "yes" on the casino referendum on Feb. 17.

Lanesville looks to casino funds to help replace unsafe gym - 2004-02-03
Six weeks ago, administrators at the Lanesville school complex found cracks in various beams supporting the roof of the elementary school's gymnasium - forcing the indefinite closure of the gym for fear the roof will collapse.

The commissioners voted overwhelmingly to send Partenheimer's request for $1.25 million to the County Council. The funds, from the Caesars casino tax, would assist the school system with building a new gym and five classrooms.
