Casino receives Rockaway endorsement - 2004-02-04
Rockaway Beach voters on Tuesday authorized the licensing of a gambling boat on Lake Taneycomo.

City residents cast their votes, 219-43, in favor of the city issuing a business license to Southwest Casino and Hotel Corporation if the Missouri Constitution is changed to permit gaming on Lake Taneycomo at Rockaway Beach. Voters supported a non-binding referendum in 2001 that permitted the city to pursue gambling. Now the city will have to wait for the issue to be authorized statewide.

Roulette wheel goes round on a casino - 2004-02-04
Voters won't be able to voice their opinions for six months, but the roulette wheel is spinning on a gambling casino in Flint. The City Council Wednesday heard a pitch from Detroit casino representatives.

Developers from the Indian Casino Gaming Project offered their case Wednesday, informing council members they don't have any issues with another casino within close proximity to Detroit.
