Casino-opposing author links with Blumenthal for Kent forum - 2004-02-06
Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and author Jeff Benedict, who leads an anti-casino coalition, will be giving a talk at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13 during a public forum at Town Hall.

Tribal Nation leader Richard Velky has continuously stated that there are no plans to establish a casino in Kent, even if the BIA decision is kept on appeal and the land claims are successful. However, Velky has said the tribal nation would like to construct a casino within the state and is seeking a host community.

Mohegan Sun is baking and arranging its cake as a promotion, too. The casino is presenting the New England Bridal Showcase from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, in the Uncas Ballroom. The gargantuan cake is a publicity stunt to bring attention to the bridal show.
