Kentucky tracks’ position on gaming seen as ‘greed,’ state lawmaker insists - 2004-02-08
Kentucky state Representative Larry Clark (D-Louisville) is willing back an amendment to Kentucky’s constitution permitting casino gambling if racetracks are open to allowing such gaming at other sites, but he feels state racing business officials will not yield in their request that expanding gaming be restricted to the racetracks.

"I can’t forge any agreement with the industry," Clark informed the newspaper.

Dane County voters to rule on casino bid - 2004-02-08
Dane County voters will give their opinion Feb. 17 in a nonbinding vote on whether they want to permit an American Indian tribe to transform its bingo hall on the outskirts of town into a full-fledged casino with Las Vegas-style gambling.

Opponents contest, insisting that the money wouldn't takeover the full costs related to the negative elements of an expanded casino, including an rise in problems gamblers.
